Helane Morrison is a name that we all shall remember. Her accomplishments exceed anything anyone else has done before her. She is truly a great example of everything society strives to become. She’s one of the few law enforcers that we can actually trust to take down corruption.
Helane graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. Degree in journalism. She then went to the University of California at Berkley, School of Law where she received her J.D. While at Berkeley, she served as editor-in-chief for the California Law Review. After passing the bar, Morrison set out to on her life-long journey.
She started out working for Richard Posen of the US Court of Appeals as a law clerk. She served in the Seventh District for one year. She later moved onto working for Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun. She worked for Blackmun for one year.
Her next job was working with Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady, Falk, & Rabkin. Her first law firm, she worked at for ten years. In 1991, she was named a partner at the firm. Her primary focus was business litigation and defense of private securities actions. This is when she began working closely with the SEC.
Eventually, Morrison went on to join Hall Capital Partners. She realized that much of the country still did not fully trust the markets after the 2008 market crash. She hoped to use her new position and instill confidence in the investing public’s trust in the financial markets.
Part of her personal mission to rebuild the public’s perception of the financial markets included cleaning up the corruption that has been wreaking havoc. She is the most indispensable fighter for industrial justice. She’ll relentlessly go after anyone or company that seeks to take advantage of people who have been left naïve and at the mercy of the markets.
The moment that Morrison passed the bar, she began pursuing allies that would help her in her fight for social righteousness. The many judges she worked for earlier in her career were sort of like mentors to her. Blackmun, in particular, shared the exact same spirit for social righteousness.
Morrison’s biggest opportunity came after she got the attention of the SEC. She was put in charge of the San Francisco office. She used her new position to protect people from fraudulent predators.
